Advent Week 1: Psalm 80

Psalm 80: 1-3 & 17-19 (CEB)
1 Shepherd of Israel, listen! You, the one who leads Joseph as if he were a sheep. You, who are enthroned upon the winged heavenly creatures. Show yourself
2 before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh! Wake up your power! Come to save us!
3 Restore us, God! Make your face shine so that we can be saved!
17 Let your hand be with the one on your right side— with the one whom you secured as your own—
18 then we will not turn away from you! Revive us so that we can call on your name.
19 Restore us, Lord God of heavenly forces! Make your face shine so that we can be saved!

The first week of Advent has been upon us. It is the time of waiting, as we await Christ's coming to this world.

We are waiting for a lot of things throughout this season of waiting. We wait and wait for our communities to be reconciled, for everything to return to normal, and for God to open new doors for us. We try to wait in hopeful anticipation, but it appears like only difficult days lie ahead of us. This morning, I want you to remember that the only thing we can wait and hope for is “Immanuel” Christ's salvation. I pray that, during this Advent season, "God be with you all” at every moment of your life.
